Attachment problems

Attachment issues can develop in children with a history of abuse or neglect. Children who have been in foster care, or have been adopted from orphanages are more prone to develop these disorders. These distressing issues cause children to struggle in situations like forming trusting, reciprocal, empathetic relationships. Attachment difficulties can result in emotional and behavioral dysregulation. Early intervention and parent commitment and participation is the identified greatest indicator of treatment success. Our trauma informed therapists can provide attachment therapy, which focuses on helping children learn to cope with their past and build trusting relationships in the present. Parents are most often involved in this therapy.

Adults who have never addressed problems with attachment will work in treatment to understand themselves and how current feelings and behaviors came from their early experiences. They will learn how to develop healthy, loving attachments.
