Foster parent/adoptive parent training sessions

Fostering children is a very different experience than parenting one’s biological children. Children who are or who have been in foster care have a unique set of challenges and difficulties. Training sessions can assist parents who are looking to learn new strategies for managing the unique behaviors of these children.

Caregivers are taught how children who have been in foster care or adopted from certain situations are “rewired” to behave and react in extreme manners. Caregivers will learn how to understand their child’s behaviors, and how to react to it in a manner that can help the child heal. Parents will be shown how parenting with PACE (Playful, Accepting, Curious, Empathic) can lead to more positive, compliant interactions with their child. Our trauma informed therapists will help you parent your child in a manner that leads to a stable, reciprocal trusting relationship. By changing how you think about and parent your child, you can diminish their difficult behaviors and improve their ability to have successful relationships.
