Oppositional/defiant behaviors

Oppositional defiant disorder is diagnosed when a child displays a pattern of  defiant, hostile, and uncooperative behavior. It is not unusual for children and adolescents to defy authority on occasion,  however, when the behavior is prolonged or disrupts the child’s normal daily functioning, including relationships and activities within the family and at school, treatment may be needed. A child with ODD may be angry and moody, and lose their temper easily. They may be easily annoyed, disrespectful and actively refuse to comply with requests and rules. Our therapists can help the child develop more effective ways to express and control anger. We help children learn to change their thoughts to change their feelings and behaviors. We support parents and offer strategies to help in the home.
